TELEHEALTH

What is Telehealth?

Telehealth encompasses Online Physiotherapy consults conducted using the Internet via Video Conferencing platforms such as Physitrack or Zoom.

Research has shown that Telehealth Consults are as effective as traditional ‘Face to Face’ consults in the treatment of chronic conditions such as Osteoarthritis.

The GLA:D program for hip and knee osteoarthritis can be completely delivered entirely using Telehealth. The PEAK program for knee osteoarthritis is a Telehealth only delivered physiotherapy program.

The Australian Physiotherapy Association has released a ‘Chose Physio For Telehealth’ which answers all frequently asked questions.

If you are unsure about a telehealth appointment or just want to check with me you are suitable for telehealth, please contact me via email.

I am able to organise a 15 minute consult at no charge to you prior to your Telehealth appointment to assist with setting up your Telehealth platform or working out if Telehealth is suitable for you.

You can book an appointment online or email me and we can organise a suitable time for both of us.

Prior to your appointment these things will need to be done :

  1. Answer some questions using an online questionnaire. Once you contact me, i will email you the right questionnaire for your problem.

  2. Ensure you are set up for your Telehealth session. Before your Telehealth Session, i will send you a link in your email, select this link and your Telehealth consult will commence.

  3. PhysiApp is an online telehealth system that can be easily set up for your call.

  4. Payment (online or over the phone) will need to be made at the beginning of the consultation. I use secure systems such as Stripe or Medipass.

Medicare provides a rebate for Online Consults for patients who have a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM). Your GP must provide a referral to physiotherapy in order to claim the medicare rebate. During COVD-19 there are some additional temporary telehealth rebates for those deemed at risk during COVD19. These include those over 70 years of age or those who have a chronic medical condition.
